Agnes Sagimo
My journey at the Women Like Us Center has been amazing and a great learning experience. Through our sewing skills, we are now making masks for sale and also to keep ourselves safe. Through sales, we are able to feed our families. The Center has been of great help to me as a woman. I am grateful to the Women Like Us Foundation.

Teen Mother Program

The Women Like Us Foundation is helping teens find a stronger future and build economically stable lives. The Women Like Us Achieve program at the Women Like Us Center has developed a special program that helps them to understand the importance of nutrition for both themselves and their children. They learn to understand the skills of breastfeeding and child caring. We also have placed the teen girls into our sewing and computer classes.

Support

$1375 supports 25 women for one month.  We seek to raise enough money to support 25 women for the next 7 months — which will go so far to support them and their families through the current COVID-19 crisis.

Donate $55 one-time or commit to $55 monthly to support one woman and her family for a month through the COVID-19 crisis.

In developing countries, up to 43% fewer women have access to the internet than men.  90% of jobs in Africa are created by entrepreneurs, making the role of the digital economy in African growth undeniable.  Though women inject 90% of their income into their families and communities, their greatest barrier is that they often do not have access to funding opportunities or formal training necessary for future success.

We know that education is an essential tool to empower women to gain confidence and achieve economic stability and success.  In today’s digital era that has been largely defined by technological advancements, access to technology is essential to anyone’s educational and economic success.

When I came here I didn’t even know how to [use a] sewing machine… We have several things that we have learned here apart from sewing, which is also beneficial for us. Like communication skills, which are very important in life. Because we know that without communication we cannot do anything.
