I was worried about our impact this year. In fact, we had so many things come up that distracted from our goals, that it was difficult to concentrate, focus and share our achievements when I so very much wanted to connect more with you…
I’m like you. Life has its ups and downs. For me personally, my father died, our film that I so much wanted to share with you hit some roadblocks, and a person I counted on let me down.
Yet it was you, and people like you, that kept me going. That kept understanding our work, believing in our mission and having a passion, like me, for changing the world. It was then that I was reminded, once again, that things may be tough but we get through it. People may disappoint, yet there are always good people around the corner who take their place, ones you can count on, partner with, share your passions with and …keep on going.
In spite of a tough personal year I woke up this morning thinking about all the things we really did accomplish in support of women’s work in 2017. And how thankful I am for you.
So this love letter is my way of saying I honor you, I am so happy to have you in my life, I am grateful for our friendship, for some simply digitally, and I look forward to a meaningful and best ever 2018 where more than ever we can come together to create awareness of and be a part of women rising in the world, finding our voices, speaking our voices and taking our place in history.
You’ve helped me and supported our work when I was distracted. You’ve stayed steady in believing that women do have the power to fight for gender equality and social justice.
What a gift we can give one another, sometimes without even knowing it. And as I look back on this year, we accomplished a lot. From finishing our documentary film for women, to finishing our book Women Like Us that highlights strong women, to impacting the fight against sex trafficking, to new partnerships, to helping children in Kenya, to taking a stand for women…I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
I’m revived. I’m ready. I’m committed to joining forces with other women like me, women like us, to stand up for a better world. And the best part is, I know you’re there with me.
Let’s do this.
With love and respect...
