FOURTH ANNUAL MISSION TRIP TO COSTA RICA PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT
TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
INDIANAPOLIS --- The Women Like Us Foundation is pleased to announce the successful
completion of our 2011 humanitarian mission to Costa Rica.
WLUF's International Spokesperson and E! News host Catt Sadler joined trip leaders and
WLUF co-founders Sally Brown Bassett, Ph.D., RYT and Linda Rendleman M.S., who is also
Sadler's mother, on an eight-day journey through the country.
"I was thrilled to go on this trip with my mom, my son, Austin, and my aunt, Toni Lusk," Sadler
said. "It was a beautiful opportunity to share my love of helping others with my family."
Sadler is the founder of Women Like Us Hollywood, the organization’s Chapter in California.
Seventeen women from all over the United States joined WLUF on its fourth service trip to
Costa Rica.
Shortly after they arrived, U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica Anne Slaughter Andrew greeted
WLUF leadership and volunteers.
"Ambassador Anne's presence and speech were such a wonderful welcome for our annual
group to Costa Rica," Bassett said.
While on the trip, the group helped children at the Carbon 1 Elementary School with supplies,
fluoride treatments, enrichment projects and even had a well for water installed. Donations to
WLUF enabled the organization to hire Indianapolis native Addison Demaree, 22, as Carbon 1’s
new English teacher.
This year’s well-deserving winner of the One Girl At a Time Enrichment Award accompanied
WLUF on the mission. Rachel Buchanan, 18, is in her junior year at Mooresville High School in
Indiana.
The Women Like Us Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to encouraging,
empowering and engaging women and girls to make a difference globally and locally.
