Do you have a passion for changing the world? Are you driven to combine your energies for a cause or a concept to effect positive change?
When women are empowered with a passion, we’re unstoppable. The combination of the feminime leadership qualities of relationship, collaboration and nurture are potent when partnered with a passion for making a difference.
Women all over the world are putting their arms around each other and standing strong to become a unified voice for world change. From politics to prisons, from third world causes to our own backyard, from bringing food to the elderly to feeding the children of the world, our efforts whether singular or plural move one step or a thousand steps toward effecting change for the better, change for the greater good, change for the quality of our lives and the lives of others anywhere and anytime.
Having a passion for changing the world means you can be a volunteer, travel the world on rescue missions, or motivate someone to give up drugs. Changing the world is a dynamic of one change, one person at a time.
In the movie, The Hours, Meryl Streep is speaking with Ed Harris. He is dying of aids and Meryl’s character continually checks on him, brings him food and flowers and tenderly cares for him. He is naturally depressed and has given up on life. In this scene his question to her is “Why do you keep coming around? Why do you keep taking care of me?” Exhausted, looking up from the hair hanging between her eyes, and with a determined set of her jaw she responds, “Because that’s what people do. We take care of one another.”
Yes, that is what we do. We take care of one another. And women are especially passionate about that. Its in our genes. Its our legacy to take care of one another, of the world.
In our research for the next Women Like Us Book, we’re seeking women’s stories. Women’s real stories of putting their passions for change to a purpose that makes a difference. Whether her story is creating change on the streets of her neighborhood or traveling across the globe, no matter. Each and every step makes a difference somewhere, in some way.
Are you passionate about creating change? Do you have a passion that you’ve put a purpose to? Would you be willing to respond to our questionaire and tell us about it? We may use your story in our upcoming book, with your permission, of course.
We’d love to hear from you. Would you forward this link to other women you know?
